About this release
The Mighty Zaf returns to Moton Records Inc for the label’s fiftieth release, working with Linkwood on a three-track EP that draws together gospel, soul, funk and disco. ‘Things Could Be’ takes the A-side, reshaping Quincy Jones material through a gospel-soul and funk lens. The reverse pairs the disco-funk of ‘Connect Here’ with the more leftfield gospel-disco direction of ‘Gee Oh Dee’. The release follows Zaf’s earlier appearance on Moton 38 and keeps the emphasis on carefully chosen songs and dancefloor edits, bringing different shades of soulful music into the same three-track sequence.
