About this release
Pala.G’s first release for Jiwa Jiwa pairs Sometimes with Don’t Ask!!! on a seven-inch single. The Amsterdam-based musician, who comes from France and has Moluccan roots, brings psychedelic touches to contemporary R&B through hazy vocals and introspective writing. Sometimes centres on an easy melodic flow, while Don’t Ask!!! takes a slower, more off-centre approach, combining sparse drums, guitar and distorted vocals. Both tracks were written, recorded and produced by Gaël Hutubessy at Nevera Studio in Amsterdam. The release comes in a hand-stamped sleeve, with the design’s colours drawing on the Moluccan sea, landscape and ancestral connections.
