About this release
Patrick Cowley’s Primitive World receives new treatments from Hifi Sean alongside the original recording from Mind Warp. Cowley’s 1982 track brings chanting voices and percussion together with electronics, creating a different emphasis from his more tightly sequenced synth productions. Hifi Sean adds a TB-303-led acid-house approach, with a main mix, dub and bonus beats taking the first side. The flip returns to Cowley’s original, followed by the acappella and Hifi Sean Edits. The six-track twelve-inch places the remix tools beside the source recording, showing how the same vocal and rhythmic material can take different shapes.
