About this release
Margate five-piece Pigeon expand their Afro-disco foundations on debut album Outtanational, bringing krautrock repetition, post-punk and punk-funk into a groove-led band sound. Falle Nioke handles vocals and percussion, joined by drummer Graham Godfrey, bassist Josh Ludlow, keyboardist Steve Pringle and guitarist Tom Dream. The album follows the group’s earlier EPs while moving into a moodier setting, with themes of home running through its outward-looking music. NRG opens the sequence, with Black James Dean, Mirror Test and Future Country among the ten tracks. Released by Memphis Industries, the record develops the band’s live interplay through vocals, synths, guitar and a steady rhythmic foundation.
