About this release
Ray Barretto brings his Latin percussion approach to Stevie Wonder's Pastime Paradise on this Major Keys twelve-inch. Taken from Barretto's CTI album La Cuna, the cover occupies the full A-side, giving its combination of Latin jazz and soul room to unfold. The reverse includes La Cuna and Mambotango from the same album, bringing three recordings together in a single EP. Wonder's original song first appeared in 1976; Barretto's interpretation places it within the rhythmic world of his own ensemble. The complete three-track programme connects the familiar composition with two further selections from his CTI catalogue.
