About this release
Riva Starr makes his solo debut on Rekids with Shine A Light, following his earlier appearance alongside Mark Broom as Star B. Can’t Stop The Feeling opens with elastic bass, filtered grooves and clipped diva vocals. Shine A Light (On Me) builds around gospel-style singing and heavier drums, while Tryin’ takes the reverse into a deeper mood through a low bassline, male vocal cries and choral touches. A Beat-A-Pella of Can’t Stop The Feeling closes the record by stripping back the arrangement. The EP connects the Snatch! Records founder’s loop-based production with the vocal warmth of his house sound.
