About this release
Mind Games gathers eleven studio recordings from Roland Haynes Jr. & Phenix's personal archive. The title track and The Essence Of Jai first appeared together on the band's 1983 single; the LP places them alongside sessions that largely remained unreleased. Athens Of The North's selection offers a broader view of Haynes' writing and the group's jazz-funk and soul playing, from Pretty Melody and Titi to I'll Always Be There and Cast Your Fate. Shorter pieces such as Ceta Theme Intro and Donna sit within the sequence, connecting the longer performances on this single LP.
