About this release
Scruscru and Los Protos' Quimera brings eight tracks of sample-based production to Scruniversal. The album draws together jazz, funk, soul and hip hop influences, with loose beats and melodic fragments connecting its two sides. 'Local Sugar Diggers' opens the set, followed by 'Smoke On The Volga' and 'Pfonkie Pfonk'. 'Dreams Of Sonora' brings a broken-beat feel and saxophone lines, while the reverse moves through 'Opyat' 25', the title track and 'iRest' before closing with the vocal textures of 'Por Do Sol Em Shelekhmet'. The single LP presents four cuts per side, preserving the full eight-track programme.
