About this release
Getz/Gilberto brings Stan Getz’s tenor saxophone together with João Gilberto’s guitar and vocals and Antônio Carlos Jobim’s piano and compositions. The album’s meeting of jazz improvisation and bossa nova rhythm centres on an understated ensemble sound, with The Girl From Ipanema, Desafinado and Corcovado among its best-known performances. Doralice and Só Danço Samba keep the rhythms light, while O Grande Amor and Vivo Sonhando give the players room for more reflective exchanges. This DOL edition adds the single versions of Corcovado and The Girl From Ipanema to the album programme, retaining the longer performances as well.
