About this release
The Soul Pops is the project of Chicago's Dejay Cease, bringing house production together with jazz-influenced keyboards and live instrumental detail. The Mask EP opens with This Masquerade, a version of the Leon Russell song associated with George Benson, featuring Trevoy Johnson on vocals and Mike Logan on keys and synth bass. The instrumental lets its piano and strings take the lead, while Afro-Rican Jazz centres on percussion and keyboards. Something About You closes with organ, strings and bass from André Vasconcellos. Produced, mixed and arranged by George Duprey at SouLPop Studios, the EP is mastered by Cody 'Coflo' Ferreira.
