About this release
Racional Vol. 1 captures Tim Maia's rich voice and tightly locked grooves during his involvement with Brazil's Rational Culture movement. Brass, bass and insistent rhythms drive a set that brings spiritual conviction into funk and soul. Recorded as Maia redirected his songs towards his new beliefs, the music combines devotional words with the band sound he was developing before his conversion. Imunização Racional (Que Beleza) opens the record, while the extended Rational Culture stretches the groove across much of the second side. This Strongly Felt vinyl LP presents the nine-track programme.
