About this release
Universal Robot Band's Barely Breaking Even brings Leroy Burgess' vocals and arrangements to a 1982 boogie production associated with Greg Carmichael and musicians from Kleeer. Cowbell, synth lines and a rubbery bass groove support a song about trying to make ends meet, with its extended club arrangement allowing the rhythm to develop over eleven minutes. The reverse carries the shorter instrumental version, shifting the focus to the interplay of the instruments. This Moonglow reissue presents the two versions on a 12-inch, remastered from John Morales' original tapes.
