About this release
Yoni Mayraz's debut album connects jazz with the textures of 1990s New York hip-hop, breakbeat and Middle Eastern melodies. Recorded live with his band, Dybbuk Tse! uses the idea of possession and release from Jewish folklore as its conceptual thread. Mayraz's keyboards and production are joined by Eli Orr on bass and Roy Reemy on drums, with saxophone, flute and trumpet adding further melodic voices. Eric Lau mixed the album and Chris Athens mastered it. The eleven-track programme runs from Landed to The Biggest Fear, bringing ensemble playing and rhythm-led production together on this Astigmatic Records LP.
