About this release
Cookin' On 3 Burners pair Hammond-led instrumental funk with vocal soul on this Soul Messin' Records 7-inch. 'Cookin' The Books' puts the Melbourne trio's organ, guitar and drums at the centre, with Jake Mason, Dan West and Ivan Khatchoyan driving the arrangement. On the reverse, Stella Angelico joins them for 'Give A Little Bit More', a mid-tempo song about generosity and empathy. Horns and Angelico's vocal give the B-side a different shape from the instrumental opener. Pressed on black vinyl in a Soul Messin' Records disco sleeve, the single brings the two performances together as a contrasting pair.
