About this release
West Grand brings together two Edwin Starr recordings from Detroit's Ric-Tic era on this white-vinyl single. Real Humdinger presents Starr's previously unreleased version of the song associated with J.J. Barnes, recovered from the tape archive and licensed from Universal Music / Motown. On the reverse, an alternate take of Scott's On Swingers draws on his S.O.S. (Stop Her On Sight), reshaping it as an extended radio jingle for Detroit DJ Scott Regan. The pairing links an unissued vocal performance with a different side of Starr's recording work, placing both within the history of the label.
