About this release
Elixia's Soho Phaze / Soho Nights connects jazz-funk playing with the studio effects of early-1980s club music. Soho Phaze places its instrumental groove through heavy phasing, giving the track a shifting, electronic character. Soho Nights uses a more restrained treatment on the reverse, bringing synthesizer lines, rhythmic stabs and the funk bass part into focus. Originally released in 1983, the two-track single returns in remastered form on Record Shack. The twelve-inch preserves the contrast between the effects-heavy first side and its less processed companion, offering two versions of Elixia's meeting of live funk and electronic sound.
