About this release
Erik Rico’s Rare Groove Project revisits three songs from Matt Soulie’s record collection, pairing his covers with remixes by Gerd, DJ Nature and Aroop Roy. P.J. City’s Straight Forward becomes a brass-led vocal track, followed by Gerd’s two-part house mix. Franklyn’s Future Love takes an electronic boogie direction before DJ Nature gives it a slower, synth-led treatment. Rico’s version of Star Lighters’ Disco Funk puts slap bass and percussion forward, with Aroop Roy’s Burning Vision version carrying the song into house territory. This Cosmocities Records 12-inch presents six cuts, arranged as three tracks on each side.
