About this release
Jéroboam’s debut album brings an eleven-piece band’s live approach to boogie-funk and two-step soul. The group grew from the Paris-based Echoes Of project, developing its own songs after years of playing together and expanding the line-up. Following releases on Space Grapes and Chuwanaga, the self-titled LP gathers eight vocal tracks for Favorite Recordings. Sweet Addiction opens with a soul-boogie groove informed by groups such as The Gap Band, Dayton, The Brothers Johnson and Maze. Across the album, carefully shaped compositions connect dancefloor rhythms with personal lyrics, carrying the band’s ensemble playing into a complete set of original songs.
