About this release
Jungle's self-titled debut brings the London duo's modern soul sound to a twelve-track album. Released in 2014 on XL Recordings, it centres on the writing and production of Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland, pairing layered falsetto vocals with bass, keyboards and tightly arranged rhythms. The Heat, Busy Earnin' and Platoon introduce the album's mix of funk, disco and electronic production, while Drops and Lucky I Got What I Want explore a slower, more atmospheric side. Found sounds and studio effects run through the arrangements, connecting the band's 1970s influences with a contemporary approach.
