About this release
Lance Ferguson reworks two contrasting funk selections with the live-playing approach of his Rare Groove Spectrum series. Jungle’s Dominoes is stripped back and given a more rugged performance, retaining the song’s rhythmic appeal while changing its studio finish. Cold Bear turns to The Gaturs’ New Orleans funk catalogue for a fiery reinterpretation, included here as an exclusive track. The pairing puts the Melbourne-based guitarist and arranger’s feel for groove at the centre, connecting a contemporary favourite with an earlier funk recording.
