About this release
Melbourne seven-piece Let Your Hair Down pairs cinematic funk and horn-led boogaloo on Pingu's Anthem and Gronk. The group draws members from Surprise Chef, Karate Boogaloo, Owelu Dreamhouse and Temporary Blessings, bringing their shared live-band experience into two instrumental cuts. Pingu's Anthem sets the horns over Hudson Whitlock's steady drums, with a flute solo from Will Morrissey. Gronk takes a tougher route on the reverse, adding Farfisa, forceful horns and the metallic percussion of a struck gas bottle to the rhythm section. Released through College Of Knowledge Records, the single runs at 45rpm.
