About this release
LJ Simon’s Givin’ Up pairs warm eighties-style synth textures with an understated rhythm section and Denice Brooks’s soulful vocal. The Berlin producer’s approach draws on vintage analogue equipment, building the song through sound and feel rather than a fixed blueprint. Brooks brings her experience across studio, stage and musical theatre to the performance, grounding the modern funk arrangement in a rich vocal presence. Eddie C’s Disko Mix approaches the track through nineties street soul, stripping it back into a dustier groove, while the original version sits on the reverse.
