About this release
Magic Source transform A Guy Called Gerald’s ‘Voodoo Ray’ into a live-band disco-funk recording, with Mounam and Gizelle Smith supplying the vocals. Led by producer and multi-instrumentalist Björn Wagner, the group brings its organic recording approach to the acid-house original, using drums, bass, guitars, keyboards and vibraphone to reshape its familiar theme. The reverse features ‘Interplanetary Bounce’, an original Magic Source composition built around boogie rhythms, heavy breaks, synthesisers and brass. Following the album Voyage Spectral, this two-track single connects the band’s cosmic funk direction with a song drawn from electronic dance music.
