About this release
One Wish - South Carolina 1975-83 surveys Midnight Blue’s blend of funk, boogie and modern soul. Formed in Columbia in 1975, the band brought together musicians including Myron Alford, Robert Hoefer Jr. and Ronnie Amiker. The selection ranges from the club version of Coolin’ Out to their debut single Feel It and Groove Together and their interpretation of I Who Have Nothing. Recordings made with Cameo’s Larry Blackmon sit alongside other material from the group’s catalogue, tracing the meeting of vocal soul and dancefloor funk. Past Due’s double-vinyl edition also includes the band’s story and archival photographs.
