About this release
Mr Thing returns to Friday's Funky 45 with a pair of soul reworks shaped for a two-step rhythm. “Saturday Dub” leads the A-side, drawing on the familiar melodic character of “Saturday Love”, while “Up 2 U” takes “Looking Up To You” in another dancefloor direction on the reverse. The emphasis is on keeping the songs' warmth and rhythmic appeal close to the surface, with compact arrangements that fit the seven-inch format. This two-track release follows Mr Thing's earlier appearance on the label and keeps the focus on the groove.
