About this release
Programmed For Love comes from Roy Ayers' 1985 album You Might Be Surprised, with production by James Mtume. The track places Ayers' voice within a mid-tempo electronic soul arrangement, combining programmed rhythm with layered keyboard chords. This Columbia 12-inch reissue presents three versions: the extended recording and shorter single version on the first side, with an instrumental on the reverse. The different lengths and vocal treatments give the same composition three distinct presentations while keeping the focus on its studio arrangement. The complete CAS2323P programme preserves all three versions rather than substituting later remixes.
