About this release
Written and produced by James Hartnett in 1978, Just One Dance Before You Go builds its disco rhythm from a lean line-up of drums, bass, Hammond organ, horns and vocals. Leroy Shahid Wheeler's high falsetto gives the song its lift, while Hartnett's arrangement leaves room for the rhythm section and brass to answer each phrase. Melodies International presents the licensed, remastered recording in its original twelve-inch configuration, pairing the vocal with an instrumental on the reverse. The two versions bring different details forward: Wheeler's performance on the first side, and the interplay of organ, horns and rhythm on the second.
