About this release
Who Are You is Soul Liberation’s second album, recorded in Dallas at Rainbow Sound in 1982. The group developed as the touring band for preacher Tom Skinner, and that gospel background runs through Jimmy Miller’s songs. Modern soul arrangements carry Christian-themed lyrics, joining the music’s devotional purpose to a polished funk and soul sound. The title track opens into a keyboard solo before its final chorus, while Touch Me Again takes inspiration from Chaka Khan’s electric approach. Put On The Whole Armor and Heavenly Places begin a nine-song programme that closes with Father We Praise You. BBE Music’s reissue presents the album across two records.
