About this release
The Dramatics combine sweeping vocal harmonies with a rhythmic edge on Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get, their 1971 debut album. The title track and Get Up And Get Down bring the energy, while In The Rain shows the group's gift for a slow-burning soul ballad. Warm arrangements and expressive leads hold the record together, balancing forceful funk rhythms with moments of tenderness. Rooted in Detroit soul and carrying the energy of southern soul, the eight-song programme moves between full-bodied group singing, orchestral detail and more intimate passages. This Strongly Felt LP reissues the original album.
