About this release
Mr Bongo Record Club Vol. 8 connects soul, boogie, disco-reggae, jazz-funk and Latin music, with Brazilian selections at its centre. The label's in-house compilation draws on records played at home and in DJ sets, placing melodic vocal performances alongside more rhythm-driven dancefloor material. As Ganhadeiras de Itapuã open the programme, followed by a contemporary collaboration with Salvador producer Ubunto. Elsewhere, an exclusive Kenny Dope edit of The Sylvers sits alongside selections from Tommy McGee, Trevor Dandy and Powerline. The collection is dedicated to Luciano Rodrigues Dos Santos, a friend of Mr Bongo founder David Buttle.
