"Mi Congo te llama" is sheer sultry house, music for smooth talking gentleman to accompany sleek women around a chandelier lit dancefloor, while on stage the Afro-Caribbean band knock out tremendously soulful and touching jams. The trumpet blares through this track with a tremendous force and energy, implanting its wailing and forlorn brass notes deep inside your mind. The men on stage clap roughly in time with the rhythm as the crowd is worked into an ever growing frenzy of swirling silk gowns and sharp dance moves. The dub mix on the flip dampens the intensity slightly, but what it lacks in impact it makes up for in emotion. The band works its trumpet player hard, muting those crisp brass notes and implanting them deeper into the mix, allowing the rest of the music room to breathe. It's testament to the quality of these edits that, on one side, you'll be spinning flamboyantly around a crowded dancehall, and on the other you'll be gently stroking your lovers hair as you take in a velvet night under the stars.
