Mulatu Astatke - The Story of Ethio Jazz 1965-1975
PRICE £26.27 (£31.52 Incl VAT)
LABEL StrutThe Story Of Ethio Jazz 1965–1975 traces Mulatu Astatke’s development across recordings made in London, New York and Addis Ababa. The vibraphonist, keyboard player and arranger brought Ethiopian melodies into dialogue with jazz, shaping a musical language that later reached new listeners through the Ethiopiques series and the film Broken Flowers. Strut’s retrospective draws on recordings for Worthy, Amha, Phillips and Axum, placing early experiments beside key 1970s pieces. Miles Cleret supplies the sleeve notes, accompanied by photographs from Mulatu’s archive. The twenty-track double LP offers a broad view of that formative decade.
