About this release
Athens multi-instrumentalist Raphael Meleteas builds the sound of a band, and at times a small orchestra, on his debut solo album Someone Else. Written, arranged, performed, recorded and mixed by Meleteas, its nine tracks bring live instruments and warm analogue textures together.
The record draws on 1960s and 1970s library music and film soundtracks, with jazz, orchestral pop and yacht-rock influences. Real strings, keyboards and rhythm parts were recorded one by one at his Athens home, with mastering by Panos Bothos. Two vocal songs bring a soft-rock dimension to the album. This first pressing is limited to 300 copies on black vinyl.
