Rubinho and Mauro Assumpção’s only album blends Brazilian folk, MPB, psychedelic rock and samba. Originally released by Tapecar in 1972, Perfeitamente, Justamente Quando Cheguei brings the pair’s songwriting together with Rubinho’s vocals, piano, organ and acoustic guitar. Mauro produced the sessions, joined by drummer Gegê, guitarist Rick Ferreira and horn players Darcy Da Cruz and Formiga. Mr Bongo’s licensed reissue makes this once elusive record easier to hear in full, from A Montanha through the closing title song. Its relaxed grooves and varied arrangements give the collaboration a character all its own.
