About this release
Sammy Massamba's Propriété Privée combines Congolese soukous and rumba with funk, boogie and electronic pop. Made at home in Paris and self-released in 1987, the four-track EP reflects his work as a guitarist, songwriter, arranger and producer. Mizele Ngue follows a soukous direction, while Sala Keba brings a slower electro-funk feel into the sequence, leading to the title track on the B-side. Secousse's reissue restores and remasters the recordings, with lacquer cutting by André Perriat, who also worked on the original release. Photographs, liner notes and Massamba's life story appear on the inner sleeve.
