The Allergies - Beneath This Sun

Bristol duo The Allergies bring the breadth of their DJ sets to Beneath This Sun, a twelve-track album for Jalapeno Records. Sample-led funk, soul and hip-hop sit together throughout: Dig It Up pairs a double-bass groove with Andy Cooper and BlabberMouf, while Bye Bye Baby draws on dancefloor soul.

Knytro adds a forceful vocal to the psychedelic rap of Resistance, and Aziza Jaye takes Leave Me Alone into dancehall territory. HybridMP and KAI join the jazz-inflected Lost My Soul, with Marietta Smith also featuring. The result is a varied set held together by the duo's rhythmic production.
