Nigeria 80 continues Strut's exploration of Nigerian music with a selection from the country's richly inventive 1980s scene. Compiled by Duncan Brooker, the set moves through highlife, juju, Afrobeat and reggae, bringing together established bandleaders and less familiar voices from a decade of independent labels and musical cross-pollination.

Prince Nico Mbarga, Sir Victor Uwaifo and Paulson Kalu sit alongside Evi Edna Ogholi, Segun Adewale and Lekan Animashaun. From intricate guitar patterns to buoyant percussion and deeper rhythmic workouts, these eleven recordings offer a broad view of the era. Presented here on double vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.
