Various - Saigon Supersound 1965-75 Volume One

Compiled by Jan Hagenkötter, Saigon Supersound 1965–75 Volume One explores the Nhạc Vàng, or golden music, that flourished in southern Vietnam before 1975. Vietnamese melodies and songwriting meet Western pop influences across a selection of vocal performances, dance rhythms and instrumentals. The recordings were collected from sources around the world, then restored and remastered to bring this music back into circulation.

Carol Kim opens with Tình Ta Như Lửa Đơm Hoa, while Hùng Cường and Mai Lệ Huyền join forces on Sống Cho Nhau. Khánh Ly's Diễm Xưa and the instrumental Phố Đêm offer further perspectives on the period. Presented across two records in a gatefold sleeve, the compilation includes liner notes and Vietnamese and English lyrics.
