Freestyle Fellowship - Innercity Griots

Innercity Griots captures Freestyle Fellowship's agile, jazz-informed approach to hip-hop. Mikah 9, P.E.A.C.E., Aceyalone and Self Jupiter developed their interplay in Los Angeles' Good Life Cafe scene, treating the voice as an instrument while writing about survival, insecurity, homelessness and everyday life.

The production brings programmed elements together with live jazz playing, leaving space for the group's dense rhymes and rapid exchanges. Be With's reissue spreads the album across two records and adds Pure Thought, originally included on the CD. Remastered by Simon Francis and cut by Pete Norman, this edition includes the full sequence of songs and short interludes.
