About this release
Souls of Mischief's debut captures the Oakland group's place within the Hieroglyphics collective. A-Plus, Tajai, Opio and Phesto build intricate internal rhymes around jazz and funk samples, with the title track joined by That's When Ya Lost and Never No More. The album's sound offers a distinct view of early-1990s West Coast hip-hop, shaped by the interplay of the four voices as much as its beats. This Traffic Entertainment double vinyl reissue is remastered from the original masters and cut with DJs in mind, presenting the fourteen-track album sequence.
