Glasgow collective Mungo’s HiFi mark their 25th year with Soundsystem Champions 2, a follow-up to their influential 2008 set. The original became a modern classic built on towering bass, sharp horns and a roster of standout vocal performances. This new edition gathers some of the crew’s most treasured dubplates—long heard only through their own speakers—and shares them beyond the dance. Several artists from the first instalment return. General Levy charges across the Belly Ska riddim on ‘Gideon Boot’, while Marina P delivers the expansive ‘Searching’.

Kenny Knots closes the album with the roots-driven ‘Rise and Gravitate’. New voices from the group’s extended journey also step in: Eva Lazarus reworks Althea and Donna’s ‘Uptown Top Ranking’, Solo Banton brings his lyrical agility to ‘Bubble N Wine’, and Cian Finn offers a grainy, soulful take on the Wailers’ ‘Rainbow Country’.
