About this release
Alex Nut brings house, soul, broken beat and jazz together on The Heat EP, with Steve Spacek, Allysha Joy and Sam Crowe contributing across its four tracks. Bright pairs Spacek’s vocal with Nut’s production, before the Re-FreQ Mix shifts the song towards an acid-led arrangement with 303 lines and swinging percussion. Allysha Joy takes the title track, set against broken drums, analogue textures and bass. Duck Duck closes with Crowe on Rhodes and piano, preserving the instrumental sketch that later developed into Bright. Released on Eglo, the EP draws the label co-founder’s collaborators into different corners of his production sound.
