Mala - Brownswood Remix Editions 006

Brownswood Remix Editions 006 returns to Como Como, Mala’s collaboration with Dreiser and Sexto Sentido from the 2012 album Mala In Cuba. The original brings their voices into a gently paced setting of piano, low bass and intricate percussion, leaving space for the melody and rhythm to move together. Theo Parrish’s version approaches the song from another angle, working echo around the vocals and building a deeper, more spacious rhythmic frame. The pairing holds the original performance and its reinterpretation side by side, bringing Mala’s Cuban sessions into dialogue with Parrish’s distinctive approach to groove.
