About this release
Philip George’s Bad Thing brings bassline, garage and house together on Reliance. The title track pairs a weighty low end with a bouncing rhythm and brief vocal touches, keeping the arrangement direct. Labyrinth opens up more space around the pads and drums, shifting the emphasis towards atmosphere without losing its rhythmic pull. Irresistible closes with a more overtly retro garage-house feel. Across the record, the contrast between bass pressure and lighter melodic detail connects the three tracks, with each giving a different balance to the same club-rooted approach.
