About this release
Sampology’s Ripen Vol. 1 brings live instrumentation and electronic production together across four songs and a DJ tool. Recorded at his Middle Name Records studio in Brisbane, the EP combines strings, horns, vocal harmonies, congas and timbales with synthesisers and drum machines. ‘Morning Sun’ features Tiana Khasi, Hannah Macklin and Kalila, while ‘Spirits Ripened’ places NMMWL’s spoken word within a string-led arrangement. ‘Marigolds for Movement’ brings congas, brass and strings into contact with 303 bass lines, and ‘Samba Sampo’ completes the song programme. The A-side also includes the ‘Morning Sun’ vocal and beats tool.
