About this release
Gorillaz's 2001 debut introduces Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett's virtual band through a mix of hip-hop, dub, electronic pop and punk. Dan the Automator's production helps connect Albarn's melodies with contributions from Del the Funky Homosapien, Ibrahim Ferrer and members of Tom Tom Club. Clint Eastwood, Tomorrow Comes Today and 19-2000 sit alongside the bass-led Starshine and Slow Country, while Latin Simone brings Ferrer's vocals into the album's shifting musical landscape. This Parlophone double LP contains sixteen tracks, closing with the Ed Case and Sweetie Irie rework of Clint Eastwood.
