About this release
Boots for Dancing’s Dance and Resist brings ten tracks of post-punk, funk and protest to Athens Of The North. The Edinburgh band’s approach joins P-Funk influences to the restless energy of punk and No Wave, treating dancing and dissent as parts of the same musical language.
‘Shout & Testify’ calls for dancefloor action, ‘Hold Up Half The Sky’ draws on the women’s movement, and ‘Hesitate’ explores a Chic-inspired arrangement. Percussion, bass and sharply drawn songs give the LP a lively range, from ‘(Somewhere In) South Pacific’ to the closing ‘B-Funk Jam’.
