About this release
Khan Jamal's Infinity brings his vibraphone into a percussion-rich ensemble with Byard Lancaster on alto saxophone, Clifton Burton on harmonica and Sunny Murray on drums. Originally self-released in 1984, the album combines spiritual and soul-jazz textures across five compositions. Jamal wrote four of them, with pianist Bernard Sammul contributing The Angry Young Man. The Known Unknown later circulated through compilations during the acid jazz period, but the full album moves between more relaxed pieces and driving ensemble passages. Jazz Room Records' vinyl reissue restores the complete programme, from Nubian Queen through to The Angry Young Man.
