Laurence Mason’s Take Vibe project brings a jazz approach to two familiar songs on this Jazz Room seven-inch. ‘Golden Brown’ connects the Stranglers’ melody with the cool-jazz feel of Dave Brubeck, developing an idea Mason first shared during the 2020 lockdown. ‘Walking On The Moon’ takes the reverse, recasting the Police song in a relaxed ensemble setting. The pairing became the first Take Vibe release on Paul Murphy’s Jazz Room label. This fifth-anniversary edition returns it to black vinyl in a picture sleeve, keeping the two interpretations together as a compact introduction to the project.
