About this release
The CJP Band takes a slower, song-led direction on Freedom, combining heavy drum breaks and a funk bassline with a vocal from guitarist Geoff Lai. The arrangement leaves room for the melody and the group's strings, carrying the live-band character of their earlier Supa Jams releases into a seven-inch. String Dub removes the lead vocal on the reverse, bringing the strings further forward within a pared-back instrumental setting. The two versions draw different details from the same groove, with the band's rhythmic core holding both sides together. Presented on black vinyl in a hand-stamped sleeve.
